Making Houston Texans 2nd ranking next to Miami

As we can see you just cannot gauge the difference between 21-9 defeat of Buffalo. Obviously, Houston Texans just got higher score and cannot be a close game.

This game, that left the Texans with an AFC-leading 7-1 midseason record, was disputably won right there, once 8 Bills red-zone snaps webbed 3 yards.

Linebacker Brooks Reed remembers thinking, “As long as they keep making field goals (instead of touchdowns), we’re probably going to win this.”

“And that,” Reed said after the Texans’ 21-9 victory, “is the way things ended up working out.”

Granting the Texans bent to a small degree early on— and plenty at the end of the half in an exceedingly lapse that might have verified expensive — they snubbed to interrupt with their backs against the wall.

“Yeah, it’s big … some good stops by our defense today,” said end J.J. Watt, who came up huge himself — again — with his lone but exquisitely timed sack of Buffalo’s Ryan Fitzpatrick for a 6-yard loss that left the Bills with no option except to settle for three points on the final play before the break. “That’s the kind of moment when you need to step up.”

Buffalo fared very little over half that Sunday, and 22 of its 78 dashing yards came on C. J. Spiller’s ramble that forthwith preceded Watt’s door-shutting pack within the fading seconds of the second quarter. That marked the primary run of quite 20 yards the Texans have permitted all spike.

“We’re playing good,” Phillips said. “They didn’t make many third downs on us, and they got most of their yards in the final 50 seconds of the first half and the last four minutes. Plus, we got a big three-and-out to start the second half.”

While the Bills altered just 2 of 11 third-down possibilities, or an 18% (lack of) success rate. The Texans had been permitting conversions solely 27.5% of the time before their off week, additionally second league-wide.

“It’s always a little iffy coming off the bye week,” defensive end Antonio Smith said. “Coaches always worry a little about you. So this was big what we did today. We had to fight. This was no easy game. But it got us back into the groove. Making those (red zone) stops, then getting off the field on third downs … it was good to see. We went back out in the second half and made a statement.”

To end it up, a turnover-free offense and teeming defense helped the Texans overcome seven penalties and a blocked field goal on Sunday to defeat the Buffalo Bills 21-9.
